Terrible in one word. The salmon was overcooked with nasty side mix of some green with onion. New England Clam Chowder was burned. The chicken is burnt. Family dinner turned into complete fiasco. Our main server try the best to do her job but her assistant it is just a joke. Never in my life i saw something like this. She brought main dishes and was putting between plates from appetizers and after removing them. Never again.

View is nice at some tables, outdoors is excellent when weather permits. What food you received was very good except the risotto. Ordered seafood combo. 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, 1 crab cake does not a meal make, for $38.00??? Come on, why not add a piece of fish, clam strips, something please.

Amazing good and has great views. Fancy place. Went here for Thanksgiving dinner. Worth a shot if you ever have the chance and don't want to cook.

The ambience is what gives this place 4 stars. The food is good, but a little over priced. We were misled into thinking they have a glass floor overlooking the river by other reviews. That is not the situation. The outside patio is nice but it was too hot to sit outside on the day we were there. The service can be improved. We ordered the oyster flight but the waitress could not tell us which oysters on the plate matched up to the menu. Then they brought shrimp and grits without a spoon. It wasn't very busy but it looked like the wait staff were panicking every time they walked by. It made dinner feel very tense.

This place provides a great view. After a couple of visits (and for someone who is well traveled(, it's just not worth the price tag. There are far better dining experiences in the Richmond region that will not cost as much for the quality of food and drink. Go to Bookbinders nearby if you are expecting 5-star, or any restaurant that has thoughtful, exciting dishes. This is the #1 city for food per capita. I may have had my final meal here because it's 5 1/2 stars at best. My meal was not presented as requested (twice), and several other past dishes lacked the flavor that is found in most any hole in the wall restaurant in Richmond. Great atmosphere on the River, but not at all the bang for the buck They literally upcharge you for ginger in a Moscow mule. Like, whatever...

The Boathouse is hands down the best place to get married! Where do I start? Such a modern unique building right on the water, with excellent food and amazing wonderful people. Everything about the Boathouse was perfect. They are so good at doing weddings, they took all of the pressure off which was greatly appreciated. They were VERY quick to respond to my million emails throughout the entire process. The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly thanks to the coordinator. I am so thankful for the Boathouse. They made my dream wedding come true. THANK YOU!

Beautiful restaurant, impeccable service, ok to great food. Nice place to celebrate. NY Strip steak is excellent. Lobster, oysters, shrimp tacos were very good as well. The crab cakes were good, the crab-artichoke dip is okay (yummy but mostly cheese and artichoke)... the grilled chicken Caesar salad was not so good.

Went over the weekend for Brunch. The atmosphere is hip and homey. Great serving staff who made awesome recommendations. The steak and eggs were Devine and the BISCUITS. I would definitely come back for those alone. The ladies at the front door were a bit catty in my opinion. We showed up at 1140 for a 1145 reservation and she corrected us that it was at 1145 and none the sooner.

The place is nice. The food fantastic; I went for a catered work event. The food served there was mostly things I don't like - I don't like seafood the textures are always kind of gummy and tastes really fishy. I decided to try everything they offered and was pleasantly surprised that the salmon was neoghter gummy nor fishy. Their jalapenos hush puppies were really good too, and I can't stand tasting jalapenos. I would recommend this place for a nice dining experience.

Great sunset view on the beautiful, historic James River. Great place to take a date for a nice dinner or meet an old friend for a few beers. The patio is not open during the cold months, but come back in the warmer months for the full experience. I will stop here at every given opportunity.

I'd heard a lot of good things about the place. Went with a friend recently and was honestly disappointed. The proteins were cooked properly, but everything was largely bland, the asparagus limp and overcooked. Felt like they were making "safe" food, rather than delicious food. Service was good. Drinks were wet and well made. Food was just underwhelming.

Great place to get married! We provided photo booth services at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing wedding and it was a breeze as a vendor! When the venue makes it easy for vendors to accommodate their clients, it provides the best experience and everyone works together to put on the best day. Parking and unloading was easy. Setting up was spacious and in a perfect spot for guests coming through to get their photo taken. Definitely recommend for the view of the river, the planning staff, the layout of the reception area, as well as how easy it is for vendors making the day that much better. As a wedding vendor, thank you Rockett's Landing!

View is fantastic.Fried was good and freshBut Risotto hum.. I felt they used white wine a lot so taste was too alcohol flavor. They cooked again and it was fine. And at that time, Service was fine~ because Our food delayed. Staff explained the reason this happen occurred. So it was fine but not special.

Great view, super service. Crabcake really wasn't that great. I suspect it was Asian crab rather than blue crab. Portions seemed a bit small overall.

The food was amazing! We had the steamed shrimp and artichoke dip as our appetizers. My companions both ordered scallops and I ordered the shrimp tacos with a New England clam chowder soup. The food was simply outstanding! All of us were happy with our food and the service was wonderful. We finished our meal with the zookie, the black-out cake, and the creme brulee. The creme brulee was a boat of creme brulee, not a small pot like you normally see. We all had more than enough food and continue to talk about it all the way home. We were really impressed by The Boathouse and if I ever come back to Richmond, I plan to return.

Great view of Richmond city skyline. Good Happy Hour offers and amazing appetizers. One of my favorites for meeting friends or taking clients. Service hasn't disappointed yet. This visit Nicole was our server, very pleasant, gave great recommendations and excellent service. Sat outside on the covered deck which is an extension of the bar so ni reservations required but seating is limited.Highly recommend the calamari and Crab Artichoke dip. Oysters are very popular here, just not my taste so can't say one way or the other. But witnessed lots of folks enjoying.

I was delighted with the experience at The Boathouse. There were 150 of us there, so a unique experience. We had meatballs and spring rolls as appetizers...a delicious surprise. Then there were three meal choices, meat, fish, or vegetarian. All were enjoyable. And the view of Rocket's Landing cannot be beaten!

Amazing ambiance, amazing menu, amazing service! The elevator up to the restaurant was ther only thing I would knock...but it was dark outside, so I'm nitpicking. I would absolutely recommend visiting this restaurant and enjoying what they have to offer. Stay for desert, as well! Thank me later! Drinks are creative and PLENTIFUL, as well. You definitely get your money's worth!

Food was ok but nothing special. We got the crab and artichoke dip to start and all you can taste is the cheese.. no crab at all. For the entree I got the shrimp risotto and the plating was sloppy. Protein is cooked well but the kale in the risotto couldve been cooked way longer. My friend got the crab cakes and they were decent. Service was good tho. Not sure if I would come here again. The vibe and price point seems like an upscale restaurant and the decor is nice but there's a huge sports tv and bar that throws this place off. The view of the water is nice tho.

We made a reservation for my moms birthday. They asked if we were celebrating an occasion and had options to bring out dessert with a candle in it! They also asked about allergies which is important. The food was great and the service was friendly! We ended up bringing our own cake and candles and they put it in the fridge until we were ready for dessert and lit the candles and served the cake! Definitely recommend for your special occasion dining.

Good food. Nice view. Friendly wait staff. A bit off the beaten track but this can be part of the charm. The whole lobster looked awesome. The southern fried platter was a crowd pleaser. Bread pudding and creme brulee gave a nice finish. Will be back.
